Faith in the Face of the Unknown
When I read about Eve, the mother of all the living (Genesis 3:20), I always wonder why we don’t hear more about her? She endured some pretty hefty consequences for her sin. And even had she and her husband not gone against God’s commands, she faced many obstacles that no one before her had faced. She was the first woman. Think about all that that entails! No one had ever had a baby before; no one had done laundry before; no one had sewed clothing before, planted a garden, cleaned, done dishes, nursed a baby, experience the death of a child, the death of a dream….

And yet, Eve must have accomplished all those things and more or we would not be here today to talk about it! She faced things we could never imagine because we have the benefit of other human counsel.  We all have someone we can ask questions of. There are countless “How to books” and manuals for dummies for us to access if we need assistance. But Eve had no one but God. Adam had not done any of those things either, and more than likely, he was out somewhere trying to find a way to provide for Eve and their children. Eve must have had great faith to look eternity in the face and walk forward, knowing God alone would mark her path.

We live in that same moment, a new dawn, everyday. But, we often look to others first before God for all the reasons I listed above.  Have you ever encountered something you couldn’t do on your own?  Odds are good you have! Your husband lost his job; your child is critically ill; you are so depressed you can’t get out of bed…  God knows the way, He is the Way! Put your faith in Him, in the face of the unknown; as history proves, you can make it too!

~ Matthew 19:26b "...but with God all things are possible." ~ Psalm 34:8 "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him."~ Psalm 56:4 "In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?"~ Psalm 145:13b "...The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made."~ Deuteronomy 7:9 "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to thousand generations of those

who love him and keep his commands." ~ Romans 9:33 "As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that cause men to     stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
