Having your Cake

Having Your Cake and Eating It Too!

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above ~ James 1:17a KJV

What is the best gift that God has given us?

Salvation/Redemption/Forgiveness

For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” ~ Jeremiah 31:31-34

“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called
you by your name; You are Mine.             ~ Isaiah 43:1 NKJV

And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you.                  ~ Ephesians 1:13a NCV

For God so loved the world that He gave His

only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him

should not perish but have everlasting life.

~ John 3:16

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:6-8 NIV

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.  ~ Ephesians 1:3-7 NIV

So, we have this good gift!  It is precious and not to be taken lightly!  We have it, we are safe!

Do you have a member in your family who was  affected by the Great Depression?  Do they have a closet, attic or basement that is full of brand new gift items?  Never used soaps, towels, nightgowns, etc.  They have things that were given in love and meant for enjoyment that are wasting on the shelf.

Like an uneaten piece of cake!

The cakes were too pretty to eat.  Mary and Laura just looked at them.  But at last Laura turned hers over, and she nibbled a tiny nibble from underneath, where it wouldn’t show.         ~ Little House on the Prairie, Laura Ingalls Wilder

It makes me feel so sad and bittersweet to think  of a wasted gift.  God wants us to not only  receive His gift of salvation but also enjoy the  relationship with Him that His gift affords to us.

The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet
you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.

~ Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV

Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.   ~ Jeremiah 31:3

God has come to earth not only to redeem us from sin but to restore us to a friendship with Himself.  He wants us to Eat the Cake!

A man who has friends must himself be friendly,  But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. ~ Proverbs 18:24 NKJV

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.   ~ John 10:10

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

~ John 15:15

We not only have access to salvation but access to God himself!  What can be our response to Having our Cake and Eating it Too?

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it

is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be

loved by My Father, and I will love him and

manifest Myself to him. ~ John 14:21

Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your

God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with

all your mind. ~ Matt 22:37

Dig in to your cake. Live abundantly.  Be confident

in God’s love, forgiveness and friendship!  Let your

joy show and your actions  reflect your  love for

God and His will for your life.

~ My love to you, Melisa Turner
